Nottingham lace {Gavin & Kirsty}

When we met for their Engagement shoot at their home, Gavin & Kirsty cooked up a barbeque. They showed me the strawberries growing in their garden, explaining that their wedding favours would be homemade jam from fruit they picked themselves. It set the tone for their South Farm wedding celebrations – relaxed, personal, and very much them.

Kirsty designed her dress, which was quite simply breathtaking on her. Cascades of Nottingham lace breaking away from the bodice created such a romantic and natural feel. That Nottingham lace tied the styling together, featuring on her bouquet and in her hair, to beautiful effect.

Gavin and Kirsty have been collecting jam jars for some time, and they were filled with carefully chosen bright and colorful flowers reflecting the palette of the South Farm gardens. Their stunning cake, with sugar flowers was so convincing that the bees hovered around it even when it was protected by muslin cloth.

Kirsty is very close with her parents. Rather than have bridesmaids, she chose she wanted to get ready with her mum and dad in the morning. It was such a calm morning, full moments of quiet and moments of laughter, and of delicious homemade scones Kirsty’s mum had made with some of that homemade jam. They both walked her down the aisle and there were few dry eyes.

Continuing doing things their way, they chose to have their speeches outside in the garden before a barbeque on the terrace for their wedding breakfast, complete with the Pashley ice cream bicycle serving dessert. It was just as they had described: a relaxed celebration for their very closest friends and family, and they were rewarded with an outpouring of love.

In the gardens, in the setting sun as the fairy lights started to sparkle in the trees, and strains of music floated out from the barn, they shared a few moments before their first dance. The magic of what they have is evident, and they deserve every happiness.
