There is an other-worldliness to the Sezincote Estate. It feels as though you are in another time and place…it is peaceful and inspiring. Full of history and dreams. I first explored this place with Vivian and Phil on their engagement shoot, and I had looked forward to seeing their friends and family celebrate with them here with much excitement.
We had the most glorious day, the noteworthy Neo-Mughal architecture lit playfully in the afternoon sun. Vivian wore Jenny Packham and Louboutin’s in such a way that epitomised effortless elegance. Phil and his groomsmen, his and Vivian’s brothers, wore traditional kilts with style. Light streamed through the expansive jasmine that frames the windows of the sweeping orangery, where they had a poignant and personal humanist ceremony.
A quartet run by Dom Stichbury of Chaps Choir, serenaded the guests during the garden reception, watched over by the elephant sculptures that sit on the bank above the formal fountains. Vivian is very fond of those elephants. The party dined at beautiful tables bedecked with stunning blooms arranged by Copeland Flowers. I fell in love with peonies and sweet peas all over again.
The evening party was something else. DJ Anna Greenwood of Guilty Pleasures is like no other DJ I have ever seen, and boy did she get keep the floor full. People danced for pure joy, with infectious fun. Jake and I were so struck by the joy, and the love. At one point a conga line emerged from the dance floor, weaved its way around the tables, went out into the courtyard and around the fountains in the half light.
Vivian and Phil had thought so carefully about what was important to them in celebrating their union, and put together a day that was both personal and striking. It was a genuine and beautiful day to be a part of, and we are so grateful to you both, Vivian and Phil, for choosing us to document your celebrations.
