Barnsley House, Cirencester
It was the most perfect midsummer morning. Barnsley House, with it’s most perfect version of laid back luxury was our backdrop, with bright sunshine and the most vibrant blue overhead. Beccy and John’s held a birthday party for their twins in the Potager in the morning, surrounded by friends and family. Balloons and streamers danced as the warm summer air breathed through the room. Cakes and presents and laughter and birdsong made for such a party in this home from home.
In the early afternoon, the girls made their way to the Rosmary Verey Suite. Beccy looked perfect in the elegant lines of her Pronovius dress. John, who was getting ready in the Secret Garden room, was donning a sharp blue suit, perfect for this summer’s day.
When the time came, their dearest gathered under the majestic tree in front of the gothic summer house. Strains of music from Maestoso String danced amongst the leaves, carrying Beccy down the aisle. Their twins sat with them throughout the ceremony, and as they cheered and clapped, it was a moment of joyous celebration.
Champagne in the sunlight was followed by a little walk through the beautiful gardens, past the vegetable plots, amongst the rhubarb and into the fields where a marquee, decked in flowers and candles awaited the guests. Aqua Flowers created a palette of soft muted purples and pinks, echoed in the cupcake tower cake made by Vanilla Pod Bakery. While the guests dined, they were amazed by the magic of Damian Surr of Ginger Magic – he was quite incredible, leaving stunned faces which broke in to laugher and cheers all evening long.
As evening drew in, a rainbow sky made a pretty backdrop for cocktails by the Temple pool – cocktails inspired by the bounty of the garden itself. Then it was in to the Potager, transformed for a night of shaking tail feathers and celebrating two families united.
