This was the wedding of Claire & James, and it was going to be something a little different and a little special. After all, when they chose what to do for their engagement session with me, they choose to cook together. And it was wonderful.
Their wedding day was the most flawless early autumnal day. The light was more perfect than usual, making everything glow a little brighter. The leaves had already started to turn, setting everything off with a little more vibrancy.
When we arrived, friends and family were putting the finishing touches to the jars full of seasonal flowers, many of which Claire’s mum had grown from scratch. They were hanging the bunting (in the colours of James’ football team West Ham), and laying the maps on tables – for the bride and groom do love travel.
Claire seemed utterly calm as she got ready with her incredible team of bridesmaids. She had chosen a dress by Lara Coad Designs, a fashion show one off, which may as well have been designed for her. She set it off with fine jewelry, each piece a family heirloom, with all the exquisite style that implies. Except, of course, for her earrings, which James had had especially made to match her unusual engagement ring as a wedding gift. Sigh.
Claire’s father showed me his incredibly old and very fine top hat which had been passed down his family. In fact, all the men of the bridal party wore top hats and tails from Buckleigh of London, so rare to see these days, and so splendid. James looked particularly distinguished, a fine match for his bride.
I would like to share the story of their day in a way that is a little different to match this bride and groom. While they have been away on honeymoon traveling, I have been creating this slideshow of memories, and I hope it helps you feel as if you were there.
..
Following is an expansion of their story, with many more of the wonderful moments that made up that day.
Claire and James, I hope these help you relive your wedding. It has been an absolute joy to share this incredible time with you.
